Episode 4: The Solar Neutrino Problem with Amy Pollien

SNO one here thinks the pun was worth it. Amy’s Paintings are great, though.

In episode 4 we try to explain the Solar Neutrino Problem to Artist Amy Pollien. Apparently, she spent most of her life secretly worrying that the sun was dying. Ben, Jocelyn and Dave set her straight: but doing so requires an explanation of solar anatomy, beta decay, cherenkov radiation, neutrino oscillation and fruit salad!  Is the sun going out? The answer is SNO.

  1. I really enjoyed this one! Just listened to it today as I’m catching up. Amy did a great job keeping you guys explaining things in layman’s terms and it’s always nice to hear things from the perspective of someone (Amy) who is highly intelligent but not a scientist. Keep up the good work!

  2. I recently discovered your podcast, thanks the TWW. It is great, I’ll be marathoning the rest of the episodes. Thanks for doing this. You guys are awesome.
