Episode 23: Quantum Tunneling with Justin Pierce

Posted Oct 1, 2012 by bn

What happens when an immovable object of finite width meets an unstoppable force which doesn’t have all that much energy behind it? quantum tunneling, probably. I don’t know. jeez.

this is what a surface looks like to a scanning tunneling microscope. note all the dots. THOSE ARE ATOMS.

today’s topic is quantum tunneling. It lets the sun glow, and also probably godzilla. Hooray!

Today’s guest is Justin Pierce, from the amazingly clever comic The Nonadventures of Wonderella. It’s a comic with drinking, and sass, and wonderwoman references, and sass. so much sass.

One of our physicists is good ol’ Tia Miceli.

The other one is Henry Reich! from Minute Physics fame.

oh. please note that there is a lot of content after the bunny song. a LOT of fun stuff this week to talk aboot.

also, if you want to go nominate us for a podcast award, i think it would be a good way for people to hear about our show.
